Menors Ferry Historic District
Located right on the banks of the Snake River in Grand Teton National Park, Menors Ferry feels like a fragment of the late 19th century left completely untouched. In the late 1800s, Bill Menor built a ferry system here that served as a vital lifeline, single-handedly connecting the isolated communities of Jackson Hole.
Walking among the historic homestead, the old general store, and the replica ferry, the textures of the past are everywhere.
Stripping away the color strips away the modern world. When shooting in black and white it forces the eye to focus on the deep grain of the hand-hewn logs, the stark whitewash of the cabin trim, and the rugged, unyielding spirit of the early pioneers.
This monochrome gallery is a quiet tribute to the grit and ingenuity it took to build a life on the Western frontier.
