Zion National Park

This gallery is a collection from a trip through the main canyon at Zion. What makes this place so interesting to shoot is the mix of elements. You’ve got the Virgin River doing all the heavy lifting, carving out the canyon floor, surrounded by green trees, all framed against these massive, towering monoliths like the Court of the Patriarchs.

From a photographer's standpoint, it's all about managing the scale and the contrast. The shadows down by the river are cool and deep, while the high peaks are baking in the sun.

I used the Nikon to pull out the textures in the rock and the movement in the water, keeping the processing clean and natural on the desktop later. It’s just an honest look at a beautiful canyon. Hope you enjoy the view.
